Rossana is a postdoctoral researcher in Law at Université Catholique de Louvain and Université Saint-Louis de Bruxelles. She is currently working as principal investigator at the project “The Internet of Platforms: an empirical research on private ordering and consumer protection in the sharing economy”. She has been recently awarded with a Jean Monnet grant for creating and leading the Module "European IT Law by Design", a new course at UCLouvain that explores the relationship between law and technology applying a Legal Design Methodology. She is also fellow of the Trento Law and Technology research group (Faculty of Law, University of Trento). In 2014 she was awarded the Ph.D. degree in European and Comparative Legal Studies from the University of Trento and she worked there as postdoctoral researcher in Comparative private law from 2014 to 2017. Over the years, she taught Private Law, Intellectual Property Law, Comparative Legal Systems, eHealth and Data Protection Law at the University of Trento. She was also regularly appointed as lecturer in Private Law and Legal Informatics at the School of Specialization for the Legal Professions at the Universities of Trento and Verona. During her doctoral studies she was accepted as visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Hamburg (scholarship holder); the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine and Society (CSTMS), UC Berkeley; the Institute for Information Law (IvIR), University of Amsterdam. Her research interests are always pursued in a comparative vein and range from Tort and Contract Law, to Consumer protection, Intellectual Property, and Privacy, with a special focus on the problems related to new technologies and their impact on society. She is the author of several peer-reviewed articles and chapters in scholarly books about issues related to law and technology with particular attention to online social networks, Big and Open Data, cloud computing, drones, research biobanks and health information technologies. Presentation and invited talks have been delivered at a number of University and Institutions, including: Harvard Law School, Case Western Reserve - School of Law, University of Edinburgh, University of Vienna, University of Alicante, European University Institute (Florence), University of Rome "La Sapienza", University of Milan "Bicocca". Albeit full time committed to academic work, she is qualified for the Italian National Bar (2013) and she worked as legal consultant for start-ups in the fields of cloud computing, biotechnology, and social media. In 2016, she was appointed national expert for the evaluation of H2020 projects by the European Commission.
